At Maynilad we also intend to reduce our reliance on fossil fuels. As such we are decarbonizing our operations and developing efficiencies to reduce our energy usage. Not only does this have a positive impact on our environment and society, but we are also building a more resilient and sustainable Maynilad. As part of our ambitions, we have developed a Climate Neutrality plan.

Maynilad’s sustainability programs span a wide range of initiatives—from protecting vital watersheds and recycling water to reducing energy use, managing waste, and empowering communities. Climate-Resilient Water System

To make the water system climate-resilient, Maynilad adopts a comprehensive water management approach that includes water source diversification, enhanced energy efficiency through the use of renewable energy, and advanced treatment technology acquisition.

Corporate Governance and Sustainability Committee

As part of Maynilad’s direction to enhance its commitment to the attainment of its Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) targets, the Company’s Board of Directors created the Office of the Chief Sustainability Officer and designated the Head of Quality, Sustainability and Resiliency (QSR) as Maynilad’s Chief Sustainability Officer (CSO).

Maynilad Chief Sustainability Officer Atty. Roel S. Espiritu (center) receives a certificate from the International Water Association (IWA), recognizing Maynilad as one of 28 “climate-smart” utilities worldwide in the 2024 IWA Climate Smart Utilities Recognition. With him are Sustainability Assistant Manager Apple Joy Albero and Sustainability Head John Emmanuel Martinez.
